Important SSH Housing Dates for Fall Semester 2026

Planning to study in Groningen in Fall 2026? Then securing your housing should be at the top of your to-do list. SSH (Stichting Studenten Huisvesting) offers furnished short-stay rooms for international students — but these rooms are limited and sell out fast.

Are you planning to study in Groningen for a full year or perhaps even several years? Then you may also want to check out the unfurnished Long Stay rooms offered by SSH.

Good to know: rooms are allocated based on registration time, so the earlier you sign up, the better your chances. Please note that the rooms are unfurnished, which means you will need to arrange your own furniture upon arrival.

To help you stay ahead, here are the official registration and booking dates for both the University of Groningen (UG) and Hanze University of Applied Sciences (Hanze UAS).

For UG students, the timeline is as follows:

• Registration opens: 9 April 2026 at 10:00am (Dutch time)
• Booking opens:
  • 22 April & 29 April at 10:00am (Dutch time) for Ba/Ma students
  • 3 June 2026 at 10:00am (Dutch time) for exchange students
